SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

The Monhegan Memorial Library’s online presence is intended to be a space where the Library may share information and media of cultural, literary and local interest. The Library may occasionally host open discussions in posts. (For example, a post thread about what everyone’s reading). However, we invite anyone with feedback or concerns to message us anytime. You may use the direct message function while on social media, or you may email us at monheganmemoriallibrary@gmail.com

Any harassment toward any other social media user either in the comments of our posts or arising as a result of our posts, will not be tolerated. This includes harassment in private messages sent to individuals. We have limited amounts of staffed time to oversee social media. So if we hear that this has occurred, we will simply shut down all comments instead of going through each one.

Note that auto filters are in place which hide comments with profanity, pictures/gifs, and also hide comments if the program detects a commenting pattern indicative of spam.

Please note that, again, because we do not have a social media team, we do not look at our socials daily. Be assured that we will respond to you as soon as we are able.
